Prep Update; Adams Records Double-Double
Girls
After losing only their second game of the year against Pace last Monday, the Jay Lady Royals (15-2) won their next two, both on the road. On Tuesday, Jay made the trip to Chipley (13-5) and won a physical game, 48-40. The game marked the first of the year without standout Sophomore Hattie Locklin.
Jay also had to play without Locklin on Friday night at Ponce de Leon (10-5). The Lady Royals topped the Pirates, 44-34. Jay was leading 29-16 at halftime, but Ponce came out pressing in the second half and went on a 9-0 run to cut the lead to four. Jay would get outscored 14-9 in the quarter, but Jay’s defense rose to the occasion and held Ponce to only four fourth quarter points.
“I was really happy with how hard we played tonight,” head coach Jorey Diamond said. “We’ve been a little short handed this week and I was proud of the effort.”
Adyson Adams recorded a double-double on the night, recording 12 rebounds and 10 points. She also had five steals, two blocks and one assist against Ponce de Leon.
