Lady Royals Top Jags, 73-48

Thursday-The Jay Lady Royals (13-1) made the short trip to Allentown and dropped a season high 73 points on their rivals at Central (10-7). Jay’s stingy defense and pressure led to multiple turnovers and stymied Central’s offense, holding the Jags to only four first quarter points. Meanwhile, Jay scored 19 in the first, 13 of which came at the free throw line.

The first half saw total 31 fouls for both teams (49 on the night).

The Jags came roaring back in the second quarter though, scoring 23, thanks in large part to Autumn Boutwell’s four 3’s.

Coming out of halftime, leading 33-27, Jay exploded with 25 points with Adyson Adams hitting two 3’s and Aubreigh Nelson adding one as well in the quarter. Jay held Central to 8.

“It was a complete team win. I couldn’t be prouder of the effort and competitiveness that was shown,” head coach Jorey Diamond said after the game. “Hopefully we can build on this.”

Jay outscored Central in fourth as well to finish with a comfortable 25 point win.

Kaylee Gilbreath led the way for the Royals with 17, while Aubreigh Nelson added 16. Autumn Boutwell led the way for the Jags with 17.

Up next for Jay is a trip to Pace on Monday night.
