Cheryl Dean Creel Kelley

Cheryl Dean Creel Kelley, devoted wife of John E. Kelley and daughter of Clyde Milton Creel and Cora Ethel Hardy, of Milton, Florida, passed away on July 3, 2024. She was born on March 16, 1947, in Sebring, Florida and was raised in Avon Park, Florida.

Cheryl’s educational journey led her to Florida State University, where she pursued her passion for learning to become a teacher. It was during this period of time when she met the love of her life, Ed Kelley. They embarked on a beautiful journey together and were blessed with two daughters, Wendy Kay Kelley Hachtel (Derrick) and Karen Kay Kelley.

Cheryl’s dedication to education was evident throughout her career. She made a significant impact on the lives of many students as a teacher in both Polk County and Santa Rosa county. She was a home economics teacher and her passion for teaching and nurturing young minds left an indelible mark on all those she encountered.

Chery is survived by her loving husband, Ed Kelley, her cherished daughters, Wendy and Karen, and their adored grandchildren, Amanda Kay Hachtel, Lawson Elizabeth Mathis Sudano (Joseph) and Jordan Elizabeth Mathis. She was also blessed with a great grandson, Joseph Wyatt Sudano and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and cousins that she loved greatly.

Cheryl will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her dedication to education, and her warm and caring nature. She will also be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 15, 2024, at 11:00 AM in Jay Funeral Chapel with Dr. George Fredricks officiating. A private family burial will follow at Calvery Baptist Church cemetery. Friends may visit on Sunday, July 14, 2024, from 2:00 until 4:00 PM.
