Lady Royals defeat LEAD
Tuesday-The Jay Lady Royals defeated LEAD 66-30. Sophomore Kaylee Gilbreath led all scorers with 18 points for Jay while junior Darcy Locklin added 11. In all, seven Lady Royals scored in a game that was never really in doubt.
Jay had a slim 13-10 lead going into the second quarter when they started getting in foul trouble. With five different Lady Royals with two fouls early in the second quarter, head coach Jorey Diamond relied on his bench early on and throughout the night. Jay didn’t miss a beat, actually extending their lead going into halftime, 32-19.
The Lady Royals would eliminate any hope LEAD might have had by exploding in the third quarter with 21 points while defensively holding the Lions to only six points.
With the win, Jay improved to 12-1 and will next travel to Poplar Springs (1-6) on Thursday.
