Lady Royals now 3-0
The Lady Royals hosted 5A Navarre and came away with a hard-fought 57-54 win thanks to a great first half of defense. This was the first home game of the season for Jay and is the first of a four game home stretch. The Lady Royals jumped out to a 29-14 lead in the first half. However, Jay’s defense struggled to keep the tough Raiders at bay as Navarre would explode with 40 second half points. Combining that with free throw struggles for Jay was all Navarre needed to get themselves back in the game.
In a game where both teams went on runs, Jay found themselves up by 19 in the third, only to see that lead disappear completely. Navarre outscored Jay 22-13 in the third quarter. The Royals again would be outscored in the fourth, 18-15, but were able to make free throws down the stretch to hang on with the three point win.
Aubreigh Nelson led the way for the Lady Royals with 18.
