Midweek Report with Coach Watson
The undefeated Jay Royals put their 3-0 record on the line as they travel down highway 4 to face rival Baker (0-3) this week. This is the first time since 2013 that the Royals have started the season 3-0. Jay has not defeated Baker since 2009. Even so, with all the buzz around this week’s game, head coach Brian Watson is keeping his football team focused on the task at hand.
“The kids are all excited…it’s nice to see their hard work have success,” Watson confessed, “…but we don’t talk about records. Baker has played a more difficult schedule so far.”
The old cliché is to throw out the record books anytime you’re playing your rival…this week is no different and Jay’s head football coach knows it.
“It’s still Baker and we are working on getting our kids believing that we can win.”
When asked what fans can expect this Friday night in the annual “War on Highway 4,” Watson let us know that he expects a physical game. “Baker is gonna play smash-mouth, physical football. Our defensive line has a tremendous challenge ahead of them.”
See everyone in Baker on Friday!
