Midweek Report with Coach Watson

Last week, Jay defeated Vernon in front of a packed home crowd. This week, the Royals will travel to Freeport. We caught up with head coach Brian Watson to talk about last weeks win and this week’s challenge.

*What impressed you and stood out from last Friday night?
—Grayson Sheehan led us in tackles and receiving. Brock Stout had 164 yards rushing… those two had really good games. Ethan McDonald playing in his first varsity football game came in relief at quarterback and ran the offense really well.

*What is your coaching staff focusing on this week?

—We have got to continue working on executing the offense and finishing in the red zone.

*You guys faced Freeport in the scrimmage game. What stands out to you about the Bulldogs?

—Freeport has been running their offense for years and they do a really good job of taking advantage of what the defense gives them. We are gonna have to play sound defense to have a chance to get the win this week.
