Midweek report with Head Coach Brian Watson

It’s week one in high school football this week. Teams across the area are coming off a scrimmage last week where they got to play shortened games, test out new players, and finalize any last minute decisions that might need shoring up. Last week, Jay played two halves of football; one against Freeport and the other at Lighthouse.

Northsantarosa.com caught up with head coach Brian Watson about last week’s performance and week one.

Q-What were you pleased with from the preseason scrimmage?

A-I thought we executed our run game really well. We moved the ball really well, but our passing game and penalties hampered some good drives we had going.

Q-How has practice been this week…practicing in the heat has to be rough?

A-We are practicing later in the evening and taking extra and longer water breaks.

Q-What does Vernon look like?

A-Vernon is very athletic and will run multiple formations on offense. We have to be disciplined on defense and keep their quarterback in the pocket.
