Holmes County Tops Royals

Saturday-The Jay Royals’ baseball season came to an end over the weekend. Jay (17-12) hosted Holmes County (11-18) for the Region 1A Championship, but came up short losing 9-7. Pitch counts and a short turnaround from the first playoff game had both ball clubs going deep into their bullpens all night.

Jay had a 4-1 lead until the top of the 4th when the Blue Devils scored 3 to tie up the game. Jay immediately answered back in the bottom of the 4th though, scoring 3 of their own to take a 7-4 lead. Holmes answered back though, tying things up in the top of the 5th. Neither team scored again until the 8th inning when Holmes would take the lead for the final time.
