Lady Royals Advance

Thursday-The defending 1A Softball State Champions will be in action one more time at home next week thanks to a 10-0 shut-out of first round playoff foe Freeport. Jay’s Jenna Toups got the win on the mound, pitching all six innings, striking out four and allowing only two hits on the night.

The Lady Royals recorded eight hits on the night and made the most of the Bulldogs’ four errors. Brooklyne Sorrells went 2/3 on the night, recording an RBI as well. Ella Nelson, Brett Watson, Caitlyn Gavin, Katie Gilbreath, Kaitlyn Cooley and Kassidy Nevels all had hits as well.

Up next for Jay is the regional championship game. The Royals will be hosting Northview, who defeated Holmes County on Thursday. The game will be next Tuesday at 7pm at Jay High.
