Checking in with Representative Dr. Joel Rudman
Newly elected and sworn-in Florida State Representative Dr. Joel Rudman has been very busy over the last couple of weeks. For starters, he hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony for his political office, the first of its kind in Navarre. He also introduced his first bill that he will be sponsoring.
Dr Rudman had this to say in regards to the importance of the bill:
“Currently, the Florida Constitution does not provide for recall of elected county officers. We feel this is an essential part of democracy. Furthermore, there are 20 counties in Florida that operate under their own charters, and those counties are allowed recall powers. We feel it is unjust for charter counties to be treated differently from non-charter counties in terms of holding their elected officials accountable. This bill aims to give recall authority to every county in the state, extending those rights to citizens who live in non-charter counties like Santa Rosa and Okaloosa Counties.”
