Royals too much for Lead

The Jay Royals Men’s Basketball (1-0) team was in action on Thursday night at Lead Academy(2-1). While the first half was competitive (Jay took a 29-21 lead into the locker room), the Royals exploded in the third quarter, scoring 28.

“The first half we did not do a good job of getting a paint touch before we shot the ball. LEAD was able to penetrate and get the ball to the rim,” head coach Hank Hullet stated after the game.

The third quarter was a different story, however. Jay scored 14 points from inside the arch, and got to the free-throw line often. Playing the inside-out game opened up the rest of the offense. “In the third quarter we were able to get to the paint and it made our offense flow much better,” said Hullet.

It was a team effort, as 8 of the 11 Royals got into the score books.

Up next for Jay is a trip to Poplar Springs on Friday.
