Lady Royals takes Lead
The Jay Lady Royals improved to 5-0 on the season as they defeated Lead Academy (5-1) on Thursday night. The Lady Royals continue to jump out early on teams thus far on this young season and Thursday was no different. “Presley (Hawthorne) got us off to a good start, then we got in early foul trouble,” head coach Jorey Diamond stated after the game. The 8th grader (Hawthorne) has been the leading scorer for the Royals in two of the Royals five games, but Diamond pointed to the team effort that made this a special night.
“Aubreigh (Nelson) and Maddie (Grimes) provided the spark off the bench that helped us extend the lead.”
The Lady Royals took a 36-14 lead into the locker room at halftime. Defensively speaking, Jay held Lead to single digits in each of the four quarters. “We continue to play great defense right now,” Diamond said.
