Wow! Lady Royals on Fire
Tuesday-The Lady Royals improved to 4-0 as they took down Freeport on the road, 74-48. Led by Presley Hawthorne(23), Jay scored early and often. Leading the Bulldogs 15-11 after the first quarter, Jay caught fire, scoring 26 in the 2nd quarter, almost tripling the Bulldogs output. Kaylee Gilbreath scored 12 points in the 2nd quarter alone.
“Unbelievable offensive performance,” said head coach Jorey Diamond said after the game.
Leading 41-27 at halftime, the Lady Royals continued to outpace Freeport in the second half, winning both the 3rd and 4th quarters.
Jay had the inside-out game going all night, thanks in part to great post play by Maddie Grimes. This opened up the outside jump shot. “She played excellent inside.” Diamond stated of Grimes. “It was an all around excellent performance.”
