Royals Storm the ‘Canes
Thursday-The Lady Royals (2-0) traveled across state lines to rival Flomaton and came back with their second win of the season, 48-33. Jay jumped out to an early 14-3 lead to end the first quarter. Scoring was spread around as seven of the Lady Royals were in the score book by halftime as Jay led 27-16 at the break. Aubreigh Nelson led the Royals with 11 points on the night, followed by senior Jaylen Routley with 8. “Jaylen Routley had an outstanding game. Carleigh Baker also did a great job defensively, creating opportunities for others to score,” said head coach Jorey Diamond after the game.
Jay missed several high percentage shots in the third quarter, but finished the game strong, scoring 15 in the fourth quarter.
“Very proud of what we are doing defensively right now,” Diamond added.
Up next for Jay is a trip to Pensacola Catholic on Monday, followed by a Tuesday night game at Freeport.
