Annual Constitutional Student Essay Contest

The BOCC was able to match the reward given by the Central Santa Rosa County Republicans.

Abriana McMath, $1,000 total, High School First Place, Pace High

Noah Canon (not pictured), $400 total, Middle School First Place, Gulf Breeze High

Walker Odom, $300 total, Middle School Second Place, Jay Elementary

Braxton Bledsoe (not pictured), $150 total, Middle School Third Place, Jay Elementary

Kenley Smith (not pictured), $100 total, Middle School Fourth Place, Jay Elementary

Jessica Pritchett, $50 total, Middle School Fifth Place, Jay Elementary

Hallie Macht, Middle School Honorable Mention, Jay Elementary

The middle school students had to choose one of the first four amendments, state what it is, and talk about its creation – why it was chosen, why it’s important and how it applied to life in America today. The essay had to be 800 or more words.

High school students had to explain the significance of a historical document(s) including key political concepts, the origins of these concepts, and their role in American independence as well as three examples of how these concepts are applied to American life. The essay had to be 1,600 or more words.
