Royals Lose on the Road
Uriah-Jay (4-5) traveled to Uriah on Friday night to face J. U. Blacksher (7-3). It was the Bulldogs’ homecoming. Jay came into this game thinking they would have their hands full, and they were right. Uriah’s offense gave the Royals a steady does of run that Jay had trouble stopping.
The Bulldogs would score on their first drive. After a quick 3 and out for Jay and a shanked punt, J. U. Blacksher would get the ball to start their second drive in Royals’ territory. They would score eight plays later.
The Royals’ second drive would be a successful one that took over six minutes and was capped off by a 23 yard touchdown pass from quarterback Hayden Morris to Brock Stout. The Bulldogs would answer right back however with a 55 yard pass to a wide 0pen receiver. A failed onside kick by J. U. Blacksher would give the Royals really nice field position to start their 3rd drive, but a penalty would ultimately doom the Royals’ drive and force a punt. The Bulldogs would get one more score in before the half.
Jay’s opening drive ended in a turnover on downs, The Bulldogs’ offense would score on their next drive. A turnover by Jay at midfield would end Jay’s second drive of the half.
Jay would add two touchdowns in the fourth. A 15 yard pass from Hayden Morris to Tomas Ravendo. The Royals’ would recover an onside kick and two plays later Morris would connect with Aiden Nelson for a 45 yard touchdown pass.
Morris would finish the night 5 for 8 with 84 yards in the air and 3 touchdowns. Brock Stout rushed for 47 yards on ten carries, while Cameron Newman added 38 yards on 8 carries.
The Royals have one game left as they host Wewa (5-4).
