1st Half Dooms Royals

Bonifay- Jay (2-2) traveled to Holmes  County (3-2)  on Friday and lost to the Blue Devils, 42-23.

The Blue Devils scored on their first drive, running their triple option to perfection. But, the Royals answered back on their first possession scoring on a 45 yard passing play from Morris to Gavin Shehan. After a 40 yard kickoff return, the Blue Devils scored on a 55 yard run. The Royals answered that touchdown with a promising drive, marching down the field to the Blue Devils’ 35 yard line before QB Hayden Morris threw his lone  interception of the night at the 8 yard line.However, the Royals’ defense would force a safety 3 plays later. The Royals would then score on a 50 yard run on their first play of the drive.

The Blue Devils would answer right back,putting together a 7 play scoring drive to retake the lead. After holding the Royals to a stop on downs, Holmes County would connect on a 45 yard pass play before punching in a 5 yard touchdown. The Royals could not recover. Holmes County would score two more touchdowns before halftime, taking a 42-16 lead to the break. Jay would add one more touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Sophomore Hayden Morris was 5/12 for 96 yards and two touchdowns. Jay rushed for 231 yards on the night
