The Jay faithful that made the 3 1/2 hour trip to Franklin County High School to watch their Royals were treated to a great night for the Royals. Senior Tomas Ravendo took the opening kickoff and returned it for a touchdown on a soaking wet field. TB Jackson Lawson added to the Royals’ lead on the next drive on a 10 yard run to extend the lead for Jay, 13-0. Franklin County’s offense was denied on their best opportunity of the night to score in the second quarter. The Royals’ defense rose up and forced a turnover on downs at the goal line. Coach Brian Watson, who won his first road game as a head coach, was thrilled with the team’s effort. “Great defensive effort tonight. That goal line stand was big…preserved the shut out”

TB Cameron Newman had 2 rushing touchdowns and Hayden Morris added one on the ground as well. Kicker Gavin Shehan was 4 for 5 on extra points and had a 27 yard goal.

The Royals now get to rest up as they are off this week. Next up for the Royals is at Holmes County on September 23.
