Good Day for Royals’ Cross Country

From the JHS Cross Country Team:

Congratulations to our boys’ team for winning 2nd overall out of 9 schools represented at the Baker Meet yesterday afternoon, only to a larger school Crestview.  The course was located at Ropin’ the Truth Ranch.  It was a true cross-country course with a mixture of ponds, woods, a few inclines, and a surprise element – horse manure (to put it nicely) scattered all about the terrain.

Chance Thornton was in the lead for most of the race.  Central’s Caleb Locklin clicking on Chance’s heels during the race for 1st place.  Caleb took the lead to finish with a time of 17:47, followed by Chance who took 2nd in the men’s race with a time of 18:23, a season best time.

For the girl’s race, friendly competition, and a surprising finish with two of our 7th graders who led our Jay girls.  Linda Slade just nudged out Lexie Smith at the finish with a time of 28:12.7. Lexie right behind her with a time of 28:12.8.

Girl's Team Boy's TeamThe Royals have been very busy.  In just the last eight days they have competed in three 5K races.  Their next meet will be at L.E.A.D. Academy on 9/13 at 4:00pm.   Each week their times are improving with each race overall.  Now it’s time to practice harder to achieve new goals and make them reachable.
