This week’s game is the annual “Kickoff Classic” that Jay plays in every year. This game does not count on the record for the year, and will not follow the traditional format; 1st and 2nd quarters will be normal in regards to game time and flow, although special teams will not be live throughout the game. The 3rd and 4th quarters will feature more situational play that both coaches have agreed on.

The Royals have installed the Wing T offense under their first year coach head football coach this offseason. Jay has ran this offense to great success many seasons ago when Watson was the Offensive Coordinator at Jay. The backfield for the Royals will feature 2nd year quarterback Hayden Morris, running backs Colton Smith and Jackson Lawson, and wing Brock Stout. “We’re down a couple senior backs right now…we hope to have them back by week 2,” Watson stated.

Handling kicking duties for the Royals are brothers Gavin Shehan (Sr.) handling placekicking and kickoff, and Greyson Shehan (Soph.) will be tasked with punting.

Walton runs a run-heavy spread. Twin receivers and a split receiver on the opposite side. The Braves are coming off a 9-2 record from the 2021 season.
