Clermont-Well, it might have been a little closer than the Royal fans would have wanted, but the win is still much appreciated. The Lady Royals beat the Liberty County Bulldogs in the FHSAA semi-finals match on Tuesday 3-2, improving their winning streak to now 17 in a row. The Royals jumped out on the Bulldogs by 2 runs in the bottom of the first inning and added 1 more in the bottom of the 3rd. Pitching and good defense carried the day. Alana Lowery pitched for 5 innings before Mattie Cochran came in to finish the day.
Jay will face Fort White (16-7), who defeated Dixie County by a score of 7-5 on Tuesday for the State Championship. Fort White is riding a 7 game winning streak currently.
Head coach Brian Watson has lead the Royals to 5 state championship appearances in the last 10 years.
