Brian Watson Named Royals Head Football Coach

Jay High School didn’t have to look far to find their new head football coach. 1992 JHS graduate Brian Watson was named to his “dream” job on Tuesday to an auditorium full of young football players. Watson is currently the head softball coach  (17th year) and head girls basketball coach(4th year) at Jay.

“To be named the head football coach is a dream come true… it is really, really special. To have played here and have coached here for so long… it’s just truly something I’ve always wanted to do.”

Watson has been coaching football at the varsity level for 21 years. He has served several seasons as the offensive coordinator. Before coming to his alma mater in 2004, he served as an assistant coach at Jonesboro High School in Georgia for four years.

“We can be successful here at Jay. There is a blueprint to success. I’m excited to get to work and am thankful for the opportunity.”
