JAY HISTORICAL SOCIETY PARTICIPATES IN STATE MARCH OF MUSEUMS

Jay, Fla. — It’s time to celebrate the diversity of Florida’s museums all month long! This year the Department of State has partnered with 160 museums in Florida and the Jay Historical Society and Museum are one of them. March of Museums is an initiative led by the Florida Department of State and celebrates the variety and versatility of museums in our communities.“Last year we had to reduce our hours of operation. Now, we are open every Friday and Saturday from 10:00AM to 3:00PM. And other times by special appointment,” explains Jay Historical Society Board President, Matthew Dobson.

The Jay Museum is managed by 10 local Jay residents who serve on the Jay Historical Society Board of Management. The museum was established in 2001 and has accumulated an impressive array of local, county, and regional artifacts in its 20 year existence.

“We are happy to be counted as one of the highlighted museums this year by the Florida Department of State. Especially in our 20th Anniversary year. We stay in operation by the generous donations of friends and visitors to our town. We hope folks will come visit and learn how the early pioneers of Florida lived and survived in our area,” added Dobson.
