Royals name Dampson as Head Coach

JHS has found it’s new head football coach and they didn’t have to look very far. Jared Dampson, a Pace High graduate (1997), has been named head football coach at Jay.  Dampson was on the coaching staff for the 2020 football season at Jay. Dampson is 42 years old and is married to Tabitha. The couple has two children, Briana and Nicholas.
Dampson has been coaching for 13 years with stops at Petal High School in Mississippi, Pace High School, and Jay High School. After graduating from Pace High in 1997,  he received his B.A. from the University of Mobile and M.A. from William Carey University. Dampson began his teaching career later in life after being a youth minister and working in construction coming out of college. “Since then, I’ve had the privilege of learning under several well-seasoned coaches and mentors who taught me the value of hard work. We’re excited to begin this next chapter of our lives here at Jay High,” Dampson says.
To Dampson, coaching football and the goal of any coach should be more than just about winning games. “Jay High Footballs mission is to train athletes to become responsible citizens, dedicated students, skilled players, and dependable young adults in order to make a positive and lasting impact on those around them.”
