JHS’ Boys and Girls BBall Teams Rank 1st in State
Monday-Jay High School has much to be proud of following the 2019-2020 basketball seasons for both the boys’ and ladies’ teams. The Lady Royals, lead by 2nd year coach Brian Watson won the district title, his second in a row and the boys basketball team, lead by head coach Hank Hullet, defeated Central to make it to the district championship and made it to the FHSAA playoffs for the first time in over a decade. But on Monday, the FHSAA released their annual report of Academic State Champions and both teams are number 1. Many might argue that this is the best achievement they could reach. “This is one of the best groups of young men that I have ever had the pleasure of working with. They display strong character on the floor and in the classroom. I’m proud of their effort and enthusiasm to learn,” said Hullet.
“This award is given to the team with the highest GPA in our classification throughout the state. Proud to use the term “student-athlete! Congrats to Teachers and Coaches,” said JHS Athletic Director Lance Youngblood.
