North Santa Rosa

Prep Football: Week 2

F0A12170-EA80-43E3-A1C3-12136F956A31Last week was the official start to the high school football season. While Milton was open, both Pace and Jay look to get their first wins of the season.

Cottondale (0-1) @ Jay (0-1) Game time- 7:00pm

Jay is coming off a rocky road-trip with the loss to 3A Walton last week. While the final score wasn’t indicative of the first quarter and a half of play, the Royals came out swinging against the bigger Braves, holding a first quarter lead for much of the period. However, from the 2nd quarter on Walton took control and never looked back. This week, Jay looks to face “someone their size” in Cottondale. The Hornets are coming off a 41-14 loss at the hands of the Sneads Pirates last Friday. After throwing the ball much of the night last week, look for Jay to establish a run game early.

Last year, Jay defeated Cottondale 40-0.

Milton (0-0) @ PHS (0-1) Game time- 7:00pm

The Panthers should be ready to play this week as they were the only Santa Rosa team that was off in week 1. While Milton may have been off, the Tigers from Pensacola may have wished they were too. Tate beat them soundly, 37-0. Look for Milton to test their corners as the Panthers have their quarterback back healthy.

Last year Milton and PHS did not play.

Pace (0-1) @ Navarre (1-0) Game time- 7:00pm

Maybe the biggest surprise of week 1 was the Patriots stubbing their toe against Choctaw, 33-14. While Pace looks to get back on the good side of the win column, things won’t be any easier this week. Navarre looks to be strong yet again this season as they defeated their arch-rival last week, defeating Gulf Breeze, 28-21. Pace is hoping to shock Navarre and shorten the game by running early and often. It’s going to be tough.

Last year Navarre defeated Pace twice. 48-30 in the regular season and 38-6 in the first round of the playoffs.
