Gameday…Week 1
Last week gave everyone a taste of high school football but this week is for real. Real in regards to counting towards each school’s record and the overall point total in how the FHSAA tallies playoff spots.
Jay @ Walton
Gametime-7:00pm
Jay is coming off a 6-5 win playoff-winning season. With that being said, Jay lost many starters from last year and will be depending on a youth movement to get the Royals back to, which would be a school record, 3rd straight playoff appearance. 3A Walton went 1-9 last season. Look for Jay to try and establish a ground game early while trying to keep Walton’s spread offense hymned up.
Last season Walton and Jay did not play.
Milton @ Pensacola High
Gametime-7:00pm
Milton travels to Escambia County this evening to face the Tigers of PHS. Milton got beat last week in their varsity play against Niceville in their jamboree, but that was without their starting quarterback. He will be playing tonight. The Panthers are coming off disappointing 3-7 year and would love nothing more than to start the season off right by getting a win at PHS.
Last season PHS and Milton did not play.
Choctaw @ Pace
Gametime-7:00pm
Pace is coming off its first winning season under Kent Smith. The Patriots went 7-4 last year and are looking for another winning season. They have an excellent chance of getting into the win column early by hosting Choctaw this Friday. Choctaw (4-6 last season) has a 12-18 record going back the past three seasons.
Last season Pace walloped Choctaw, 45-28.
