The Royals Advance
@ Jay- For the first time in over 20 years the Lady Royals basketball team is advancing in the state playoffs. On Thursday night, in front of a PACKED gym, the Lady Royals hosted Franklin County. In the first half, the Lady Royals smothered and harassed the Seahawks, taking a 33-6 lead into half-time. However some ill-timed fouls by the Royals and several 3 pointers by the Seahawks made for a more interesting 2nd half. The Seahawks actually got within 10 points before the Lady Royals tightened up and took back control.
With the win, Jay now advances to play for the Region 1 Championship and a spot in the final four in Lakeland. Jay plays at Port St. Joe on Tuesday night at 6pm.
