Prep Football: Week 6—“War on Hwy. 4” tops schedule

Week 6 is here. Big game with Jay and Baker. Undefeated Navarre comes to Pace and Milton travels to Gulf Breeze.

Baker (5-0) @ Jay (3-2)—Game time 7:00pm

Jay is coming off a heartbreaking loss to the defending state champs Escambia Academy on Friday night 30-20. Jay, down 23-20, was driving the ball with 2 minutes left in the game. On 3rd and 3, James Eddings broke a 15 yard run and Jay appeared to have the ball at the 8 yard line. However, a controversial holding call mitigated the run. Three plays later, Eddings fumbled and EA recovered. A late score made the final score 30-20. Now, Jay must turn their attention to Baker as the Gators bring in their 30 regular game winning streak. Expect a run heavy game from both sides as they try and control the line of scrimmage. This game is gigantic in terms of playoff standings.

Last year, Baker defeated Jay 49-27 in the regular season and 42-0 in the playoffs.

Milton (3-2) @ Gulf Breeze (4-1)—Game time 7:30pm

Milton travels across the three mile bridge to face the Gulf Breeze Dolphins. Lead by their all-world back, Gulf Breeze will look to pound the running game against the improving Panthers. Milton won a thriller last week, 35-34. Milton has had injuries at quarterback the last couple of weeks making that a position by committee as of late. If Milton has any chance in this one, they must be able to contain the Dolphins’ running back, Tyler Dittmer.

Last year, Gulf Breeze defeated Milton 49-9.

Navarre (5-0) @ Pace (4-1)—Game time 7:30pm

We are fixing to see what Pace is made of over the next three weeks. Few people thought the Patriots would be 4-1 at this point this year, but have a pretty tough road to hoe over the next few weeks. On Friday, Navarre comes to Pace, next week Gulf Breeze, and then Tate.

Last year, Navarre beat Pace 49-35.
