WEEKLY SENIOR ADULT ACTIVITIES AT THE GUY THOMPSON COMMUNITY CENTER

The City of Milton’s Senior Program is proud to announce we have fun ways to be artistic at the Guy Thompson Community Center! 

Every Wednesday you can join our fun artist group at 8:30 a.m. or you can join the beading group at 10 a.m. This class is a great way to be creative. 

The artist group is a gathering of those who draw, paint, color, or work in other mediums while offering opinions on art when asked, while the beading group make jewelry and other nice trinkets.

The following activities are scheduled to occur the week of April 23 to April 27. All activities are free and open to the public unless a fee is indicated. 

Monday – April 23 

9 a.m. – Cards and games – FREE 

9 a.m. – Tai Chi – Class is $5. 

9 a.m. – Beginner’s Line Dancing. Class is $5 

10 a.m. – Line Dancing – Class is $5. 

10 a.m. – You Are What You Eat – Class is $5 

11 a.m. – Ballroom Dancing – Class is $5 

1 p.m. – Rubber Bridge Club – FREE 

 

Tuesday – April 24 

8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. – Pickleball -FREE 

9 a.m. – Yoga with Angela – Class is $5. 

10 a.m. to noon – Beginner’s Bridge – FREE 

12:30 p.m. – Chicago Bridge – FREE 

3:45 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. – Poetry group. – FREE 

  

Wednesday – April 25 

9 a.m. to noon – Artist gathering – FREE 

10 a.m. – Senior Wellness – FREE 

10 a.m. – 2 p.m. – Beader’s Anonymous – FREE 

11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. – Pickleball – FREE 

11:30 a.m. – RSVP Fun Bunch. Please bring a covered dish to this pot luck event 

6 p.m. – Yoga with Trudy – Class is $5. 

 

Thursday – April 26 

8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. – Pickleball – FREE 

1 to 3 p.m. – Bingo at the Guy Thompson Community Center. FREE 

6 p.m. – Panhandle Writers Group Meeting – FREE 

 

Friday – April 27 

8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. – Pickleball – FREE 

9 a.m. – Yoga with Angela – Class is $5. 

10:30 a.m. – Adult Chair Aerobics/Yoga – Class is $5 

12 p.m. – Cards and games -FREE

Cards and Games – Come out and enjoy games and refreshments at the community center: dominoes, five crowns, canasta, and many more. 

Tai Chi – This low impact ancient art of exercise is a great way to get out and strengthen your body and help your mobility. 

Beginning Line Dancing – Come out and kick up your heels while learning the basic step for modern country and western dance steps. 

Line Dancing – Kick up your heels and learn a few dance steps in the center gym.  

Ballroom Dancing – Get ready to learn some great dance steps for you and that person you would like to dance with. Learn all the basic steps to enjoy ballroom dancing. 

Rubber Bridge Club – Grab a partner and join the Guy Thompson Community Center Rubber Bridge Club. Play will consist of four rounds of six hands with partnerships rotating after each round. This is party (rubber) style bridge and play will last until approximately 4:30 p.m. 

Pickleball – Come play a game similar to tennis, but not on nearly as big of a court and not nearly as fast. Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in America. 

Yoga – An enjoyable exercise class for all skill levels; a relaxing and beneficial hour. 

Beginner’s Bridge – Learn the basics to bridge – keep score, how to bid, strategies, and more so you can play with other bridge groups. No partner is needed for this class. 

Chicago Bridge – Join us at the Guy Thompson Community Center Chicago Bridge Club. Partners are not necessary in this bridge club, but a willingness to have fun is. Come join all the fun in this  

You are What You Eat – This is a fun class to learn about cooking as well as nutritious eating. Class meets every Monday at 10 a.m. Class is $5. 

Artist gathering – Interested in painting, drawing or sketching? Come to the community center to practice among other artists in a fun and relaxing atmosphere. 

Beader’s Anonymous – Try your hand at the art of beading, this is the group to learn or give it a try.  

Bingo at the Guy Thompson Community Center. Spend an entertaining afternoon playing bingo. There is a wide variety of prizes available and refreshments as well. Your first bingo card is free and each additional card is $1. 

Panhandle Writers Group – Meet with area writers to critique and offer opinions on written works such as short stories, poems, and parts of books.  

Adult Chair Aerobics/Yoga – This is an adaptive exercise class where all activities will be done by sitting or holding onto a chair. This class is great for people with physical issues such as weight, illness, chronic pain, as well as limited flexibility or mobility. 

Lunch and Learn – This is a program which features a topic presented by an individual or group in the area along with a free lunch. This program is held on the first Wednesday of every month. 

Senior Wellness – A fitness class which will help increase muscle tone, range-of-motion, flexibility, and balance each week. 

Poetry Group – Enjoy open-mic, free verse workshop, poetry contests and much more each week. 

Fun Bunch Pot Luck and Bingo – The RSVP meets at the Guy Thompson Community Center to plan senior events and share in a pot luck meal. Afterwards they play bingo.
