Chumuckla Park ribbon cutting Friday, April 6 at 2:30 p.m.
Just in time for spring weather, families in Santa Rosa County have a new playground to explore at the Chumuckla Community Center, 2355 Highway 182 in Jay. A ribbon-cutting celebration will be held Fri., April 6, 2:30 p.m.
“This recreational project was made possible by the citizens of Santa Rosa County voting for the local option sales tax; it would not have been achievable otherwise,” said District 3 Commissioner Don Salter. “The new playground is a complement to the existing Chumuckla Community Center and ballfields, as well as the Chumuckla Elementary School.”
Playground equipment installation was completed last week while the ADA-friendly pour-in-place surfacing and fencing is being completed now. The new all-inclusive playground equipment includes play structures designed for two age groups: two through five and five through 12.
Site work was provided by Santa Rosa County public works staff. Funding was made possible by local option sales tax dollars. Additional improvements, including renovation of the community center’s restroom facilities, are scheduled for later this year.
