Jay wins High School Math Tournament

math 1math 2@  Coastal Alabama (formerly Jefferson Davis CC)-On Thursday, nine schools were represented in the annual Tedder Math Tournament. The students from JHS represented the school well as they were crowned champions of the event.

The way the competition works is every student takes an exam ( roughly 200 students from 9 area schools). After lunch, 4 students from each school were involved in a ciphering competion. After the ciperhering portion there was a tie for 1st place…Jay and TR Miller. The tie is broken by the top four students’ test  redults from each school. Jay had the highest average.

Helping push Jay to the top was the fact that four Jay students scored in the top ten, including places 1-3. Jacob Gonzalez finished 2nd, Connor Roberts finished 3rd, Austin Gonzalez 7th place, and Timmy Locklin finished 1st overall.

Congratulations to these students, their school, and those math teachers at Jay!
