Weekly senior adult activities at Guy Thompson Community Center

The City of Milton Parks Department will host the Council on Aging West Florida as our special guest presenter for Lunch and Learn on June 7th.You are invited to “Share Today and Shape Tomorrow” as a part of the Senior Corps program directed by the Council on Aging West Florida from 11 a.m. to noon.

Alesia Ross and others from the Council will be talking about the many services available such as the Foster Grandparent and Senior Companion programs. During the presentation a free lunch will be provided.

Due to limited seating, those wishing to attend are urged to RSVP by calling 983-5466 or 983-5220.

The following activities are scheduled to occur the week of May 29 to June 2. All activities are free and open to the public unless a fee is indicated.
Monday – May 29

Tuesday – May 30

8:30 a.m. to noon – Pickleball -FREE

9 a.m. – Yoga with Angela – Class is $5.

10 a.m. to noon – Beginner’s Bridge – FREE

12:30 p.m. – RSVP Bridge – FREE

1 p.m. – Senior Movie Matinee – FREE

 

Wednesday – May 31

9 a.m. to noon – Artist gathering – FREE

9 a.m. – Zumba – Class is $5

10 a.m. – 2 p.m. – Beader’s Anonymous – FREE

10:30 to 11 a.m. – Pickleball – FREE

6 p.m. – Yoga with Trudy – Class is $5.

 

Thursday – June 1

8:30 a.m. to noon – Pickleball – FREE

1 to 3 p.m. – Bingo at the Guy Thompson Community Center

6 p.m. – Panhandle Writers Group Meeting – FREE 

Friday – June 2

8:30 a.m. to noon – Pickleball – FREE

9 a.m. – Yoga with Angela – Class is $5.

10:30 a.m. – Adult Chair Aerobics/Yoga – Class is $5

12 p.m. – Cards and games -FREE

5 to 8 p.m. – Artist gathering – FREE

Zumba – Looking for a workout? Zumba is a fun way to get in shape and sweat to some awesome music.
Cards and Games – Come out and enjoy games and refreshments at the community center: dominoes, five crowns, canasta, and many more.
Tai Chi – This low impact ancient art of exercise is a great way to get out and strengthen your body and help your mobility.

Line Dancing – Kick up your heels and learn a few dance steps in the center gym.

Bridge Club – Grab a partner and join the Guy Thompson Community Center Bridge Club. Play will consist of four rounds of six hands with partnerships rotating after each round. This is party style bridge and play will last until approximately 4:30 p.m.

Pickleball – Come play a game similar to tennis, but not on nearly as big of a court and not nearly as fast. Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in America.

Yoga – An enjoyable exercise class for all skill levels; a relaxing and beneficial hour.

Beginner’s Bridge – Learn the basics to bridge – keep score, how to bid, strategies, and more so you can play with other bridge groups. No partner is needed for this class.

RSVP Bridge – Grab a partner and join the Guy Thompson Community Center Bridge Club. Play will consist of four rounds of six hands with partnerships rotating after each round. This is party style bridge and play will last until approximately 4:30 p.m.

Senior Movie Matinee – Enjoy a movie at the Guy Thompson Community Center. Every Tuesday at 1 p.m.
Artist gathering – Interested in painting, drawing or sketching? Come to the community center to practice among other artists in a fun and relaxing atmosphere.

Beader’s Anonymous – Try your hand at the art of beading, this is the group to learn or give it a try.

Bingo at the Guy Thompson Community Center. Spend an entertaining afternoon playing bingo. There is a wide variety of prizes available and refreshments as well. Your first bingo card is free and each additional card is $1.

Panhandle Writers Group – Meet with area writers to critique and offer opinions on written works such as short stories, poems, and parts of books.
Adult Chair Aerobics/Yoga – This is an adaptive exercise class where all activities will be done by sitting or holding onto a chair. This class is great for people with physical issues such as weight, illness, chronic pain, as well as limited flexibility or mobility.
