About Santa Rosa County 4-H

4-H is the non-formal educational youth development program of the University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS) and the Florida Extension Service. 4-H is the nation’s largest youth development program, annually reaching approximately 6.5 million young people, and the only one university-based. The purpose of 4-H is to help youth become productive members of society. The educational programs help youth develop inquiring minds, learn practical skills, strengthen decision making abilities, develop youth-adult partnerships, improve communications and interpersonal relationships, and ultimately share their skills and experience in leadership roles. Through hands-on, learn-by-doing activities, youth establish real-life goals and develop important life skills.
