Library ClosuresAll libraries will be closed on Friday and Saturday, April 14 and 15 in observance of Good Friday.

 

Tax Aide

Volunteers from AARP Tax-Aide will be assisting with taxes at three Santa Rosa County libraries beginning in February. The AARP Tax-Aide program is the nation’s largest free, volunteer-run tax preparation and assistance service, providing service to millions of low- and middle-income taxpayers, with special attention to those ages 60 and older. Patrons are served on a first come-first served basis. Preregistration is not accepted and space is limited, so arrive early! Toddler Time – Navarre and Pace Libraries

April 5, 12, 19, 26

Toddler Time is a program for children 18 to 36 months of age who attend with a caregiver. One child and one adult register together for songs, stories, rhymes, and other fun activities. The spring session began March 22 and is held on Wednesdays at 11 a.m. at the Navarre and Pace libraries. This 20 minute program lasts six weeks. 

 

Toddler Time requires registration at the Navarre Library or Pace Library. Space is limited. It is not a drop-in program. Registration is based on a first-come, first-served basis. Details are available at the participating libraries.

Preschool Storytime

Storytime programs are presented for preschool children ages 3-5 and include stories, finger plays, and action rhymes. Caregivers must remain in the library during storytime; however, they cannot accompany children into the programs. In consideration of all participants, programs will start promptly at the assigned times. In order to minimize distractions, latecomers will not be admitted. If this will be your first storytime visit, we invite you to come to the library before your first adventure to meet your storytime presenter, pick up a welcome packet, explore our children’s area, and enjoy a tour of the library!

 

Storytime will be presented during the following times from March 20 through April 28:

* 11 – 11:30 a.m. on Mondays at the Jay Library

* 11 – 11:30 a.m. on Tuesdays at the Navarre Library

* 11:15 – 11:45 a.m. on Wednesdays at the Milton Library

* 11:15 – 11:45 a.m. on Wednesdays at the Gulf Breeze Library

* 11 – 11:30 a.m. on Fridays at the Pace Library

Refreshing Reads Book Club – Jay Library

April 4, 3 p.m.

Get Refreshed! Read discussion-friendly titles. Enjoy an uplifting book club where you can talk about books in a spirit of fun and sharing. See a staff person to sign up. This month’s title is “Water from My Heart” written by Charles Martin. The Jay Library is located at 5259 Booker Ln.

 

Book Chat – Pace Library

April 5, 4 p.m.  

One of the next best things to reading a good book is chatting about it! Share your enthusiasm and join the conversation at the Pace Library on the first Wednesday of every other month at 4 p.m. Book Chat takes a break in May and begins again in September. This month’s chat will be “Miss Jane” by Brad Watson. Participation is limited to 15 participants and registration is required. Friends of the Gulf Breeze Library Book Sale

April 7, 8

Join the Friends of the Gulf Breeze Library for their book sale in the Gulf Breeze Library meeting room. Sale dates are Friday, April 7 from 4 – 7 p.m. and Saturday, April 8 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. There is something for everyone, so check us out. This event is free and open to the public. Page Turners – Gulf Breeze Library

April 14, 10:30 a.m.

Our fiction book club, Page Turners meets at 10:30 a.m. on the second Friday of every other month. This month’s selection is “Vinegar Girl” by Anne Tyler. There is a limit of 20 participants, so please call the library or drop by to sign up and speak to a staff member today about reserving your copy! Poem in Your Pocket Day – Pace Library

April 17

Celebrate National Poetry Month and Poem in Your Pocket Day. Come to the Pace Library and write your own poem. The library will provide poem examples, paper, and pencils for budding poets, books to review for inspiration and instruction, and colorful library card pockets for those who need a handy pocket. The Pace Library is located at 4750 Pace Patriot Blvd.

 

Game Night – Jay Library

April 18, 3-6 p.m.

Enjoy playing games? Join us for game night at the Jay Library. You can bring your own games from home, or play those provided by us. This event is open to all ages, and game groups are welcome. The Jay Library is located at 5259 Booker Ln.

 

AniManga Club – Gulf Breeze Library

April 18, 4 p.m.

Learn and share graphic art skills in a fun environment. The club meets on the third Tuesday of each month. The AniManga Club is dedicated to the enjoyment and promotion of animation, cartooning, and related arts. Bring your art, discuss techniques of drawing, cartooning, anime and manga art, as well as your favorite title and artists in those genres. The AniManga Club is open to youth in grades 6 – 8. Registration is not required. The Gulf Breeze Library is located at 1060 Shoreline Dr.  

 

Open Mic Poetry Night – Navarre Library

April 18, 4:30 p.m.

Join fellow poetry lovers for an open mic poetry night. Read your original poetry or some of your favorites. This program is for adults and teens. The Navarre Library is located at 8484 James M. Harvell Rd.

 

Graphic Novel Book Club – Milton Library

April 18, 5 p.m.

Join fellow graphic novel enthusiasts at the Milton Library on the third Tuesday each month to discuss the book of the month. This club will be enjoyed by the new and seasoned graphic novel reader. Members can suggest reading ideas, interests, and discuss the world of the graphic novel. This month’s selection is “Black Panther: A Nation Under Our Feet Volume 1” by Ta-Nehisi Coates. Third Fridays with UF/IFAS Extension – Gulf Breeze Library

April 21, 10 a.m.        

The University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Services (UF/IFAS) presents a monthly series on a variety of interesting topics with solutions for your life. This month’s topic is Insect Pests of Turf. UF/IFAS Extension can provide information about agriculture, the environment, sustainable living, disaster preparation and recovery, 4-H youth development, family and consumer issues, and lawn and garden problems. The Gulf Breeze Library is located at 1060 Shoreline Dr.  

 

Spring Butterflies – Pace Library

April 22, 10 a.m.

The Azalea Garden Club of Pace will present this program for youth in kindergarten – 8th grade. Learn the basics about butterflies in your yard. Learn how to grow a milkweed plant, a monarch’s favorite food. Any and all supplies will be provided. Space is limited to 15 participants. National Lima Bean Day – Navarre Library

April 22, 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Come plant a lima bean and watch it grow at the library! Children ages eight and up are welcome to join us as we celebrate National Lima Bean Day. All supplies will be provided by the Friends of the Navarre Library. Sign up is required for this event. The Navarre Library is located at 8484 James M. Harvell Rd.

 

Fiction Fanatics Book Club – Navarre Library

April 22, 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Join us in the Navarre Library meeting room for stimulating conversations about popular works of fiction. Fiction Fanatics meets at 11:30 a.m. on the fourth Saturday of every month. We will take a break in May and November. This month’s selection is “The Secret Language of Stones” by M.J. Rose. Meet the Poet – Pace Library

April 24, 3 – 5 p.m.

Coming Monday, April 24, local poet Marc Livanos will give poetry readings and discuss sources of inspiration for poetry as a way to express your feelings, calm a stressed mind or describe scenery from wild beach lavender to our Blackwater River. He will also have poetry prompts and prizes consisting of his poetry book “Panhandle Poet – Second Helpings.” The Pace Library is located at 4750 Pace Patriot Blvd.

 

Bibliobabblers Teen Book Club – Gulf Breeze Library

April 25, 6 p.m.

Teens in 9-12th grade who are 14-18 years old can take a break from homework and school to hangout and discuss the read-of-the-month with friends at the library. Bibliobabblers meets at 6 p.m. on the last Tuesday of every month in the Gulf Breeze Library meeting room. This month’s book is “The Program” by Suzanne Young. The Gulf Breeze Library is located at 1060 Shoreline Dr.  

 

Bereavement Support – Navarre Library

April 28, 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Meeting are held at the Navarre Library. The sessions address grief support and offer assistance, love and listening ears to those grieving the loss of a loved one. All materials are provided and no reservation is required. There is no charge to participate. The Navarre Library is located at 8484 James M. Harvell Rd.

 

Friends of the Navarre Library Book Sale

April 28, 29

The Friends of the Navarre Library will hold a book sale Friday, April 28 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Saturday, April 29 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the meeting room of the library. A variety of books will be available. Support your local Friends group and consider becoming a member! The Navarre Library is located at 8484 James M. Harvell Rd.
