WEEKLY ACTIVE ADULT ACTIVITIES AT THE GUY THOMPSON COMMUNITY CENTER

The Guy Thompson Community Center has a number of events taking place for older active adults.
The Milton Parks and Recreation Department continues to add more programs for active adults.
With the wide variety of events offered for active adults (seniors), there is something for everyone to come out and enjoy something at the Guy Thompson Community Center from exercise classes, cards, bingo, or even art.
Due to the center being used as a polling place in Santa Rosa County the gym hours will be very limited starting Monday afternoon through the Wednesday after the election.

The Guy Thompson Community Center invites you to come out and talk with any of our groups and join in the fun activities for active adults held at the Guy Thompson Community Center.

Seniors in the area to keep up with activities for them being held at the center by going to our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/SeniorsinMilton or when using the Facebook search option look for Senior Activities at the Guy Thompson Community Center. On this site you will see videos of the different activities as well as monthly and weekly scheduled activities.
Also you can check the complete center calendar on the City of Milton’s new website at www.ci.milton.fl.us.
As more activities are added they will be posted on this site as well.

The following activities are scheduled to occur the week of Nov. 7 to Nov. 11 at the Guy Thompson Community Center. All activities are free and open to the public unless a fee is indicated.
Monday – Nov. 7

9 a.m. – Cards and games: Come out and enjoy games and refreshments at the Milton Community Center.
9 a.m. – Tai Chi: This ancient art of exercise is very low impact and a great way to get out and strengthen your body and help your mobility. Class is $5.

10 a.m. – Line Dancing: Kick up your heels and learn a few dance steps in the Milton Community Center Gym. Class is $5.

1 p.m. – Bridge Club: Grab your partner and join the Guy Thompson Community Center Bridge Club. Play will consist of four rounds of six hands with partnerships rotating after each round. This is party style bridge and play will last until approximately 4:30 p.m. FREE

Tuesday – Nov. 8
9 a.m. – Yoga with Angela: An enjoyable exercise class for all skill levels. A relaxing and beneficial hour. Class is $5.

10 a.m. to noon – Beginner’s Bridge: Learn the basics to bridge – keep score, how to bid, strategies, and more so you can play with other bridge groups. You do not need a partner for this class. FREE

12:30 p.m. – RSVP Bridge: Grab your partner and join the Guy Thompson Community Center Bridge Club. Play will consist of four rounds of six hands with partnerships rotating after each round. This is party style bridge and play will last until approximately 4:30 p.m. FREE
1 p.m. – Senior Movie Matinee. Enjoy a movie at the Guy Thompson Community Center. Every Tuesday at 1 p.m. a movie will be shown for your entertainment pleasure. FREE
Wednesday – Nov. 9
9 a.m. to noon – Artist gathering: If you paint, draw or sketch you are invited to the Milton Community Center to practice your art among other artist in a fun and relaxing atmosphere. FREE

9 a.m to 10 a.m. – Zumba: If you are looking for a workout then you need to come by for a fun and high energy exercise. Zumba is a fun way to get in shape and sweat to some awesome music. Class is $5

10:30 to noon – Pickleball: come play a game similar to tennis, but not on nearly as big of a court and not nearly as fast. Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in America and you are welcome to come out and give it a try. FREE

10 a.m. – 2 p.m. – Beader’s Anonymous: If you would like to try your hand at the art of beading, this is the group to learn or give it a try. FREE

6 p.m. – Yoga with Trudy: An enjoyable exercise class for all skill levels. A relaxing and beneficial hour. Class is $5.
Thursday – Nov. 108:30 a.m. to noon – Pickleball: come play a game similar to tennis, but not on nearly as big of a court and not nearly as fast. Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in America and you are welcome to come out and give it a try. FREE

1 to 3 p.m. – Bingo at the Guy Thompson Community Center: Come and spend an entertaining afternoon playing bingo. There is a wide variety of prizes available and refreshments as well. Your first bingo card is free and each additional card is $1.
6 p.m. – Panhandle Writers Group Meeting: Meet with area writers to critique and offer opinions on written works such as short stories, poems, and parts of books. FREE
Friday – Nov. 11

The Center will be closed in honor of Veteran’s Day.
