Beverly Johnson

Beverly (formerly Hall) Johnson began her life journey in Clearwater, Florida, March 6th in the last century. If you know the actual year and share it with anyone it is highly possible you will be haunted. At 5:30pm, September 16, 2016, she departed this earthly realm for her soul’s next great shopping adventure. Aside from her unmatched beauty, grace, sense of style and more shoes than Imelda Marcos, she leaves behind her husband, Rev. Johnny Johnson, of Jay, and her brother Bryan Williams, of Lakeland.
For this fun, very social lady, family was of the utmost importance. She has now been reunited with her first child, Keith Hall, who preceded her in death in 2013. Her children who remain are Rev. Britt Hall (husband Louis Olivieri) of New York City; Cathy Hall (wife Kristie Sebold Hall) of Jay; John Johnson (wife Melissa) of Allentown; Jeannie Johnson and Julie Morris of Pace, 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
While growing up in Avon Park, the daughter of Minnie and John Henry Williams, Beverly twirled her baton in the APHS band and held court as the prestigious May Queen. In her next chapter of life she raised her three children, Keith, Britt and Cathy, in Sebring while working as an administrative secretary at Sebring High School.
After moving north to the panhandle of West Florida in 1983, she married the Rev. Johnny Johnson and officially became a preacher’s wife, long before Whitney Houston. She and Rev. Johnny lived many years in Pensacola before retiring in Jay in 2008, where life in a town with one red light was much simpler.
She was a much beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend, and her infectious laughter will be greatly missed as she now enters the largest of all walk-in closets beyond The Pearly Gates.
Beverly’s Celebration of Life service will be held this Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Jay United Methodist Church, 300 N. Alabama St, Jay, FL. Visitation is 11am to 1pm, followed by a 1pm service.
