Florida Association of Counties Awards Commissioner Rob Williamson with Presidential Advocacy Award

The Florida Association of Counties (FAC) presented Santa Rosa County Commissioner Rob Williamson with the Presidential Advocacy Award during the 2016 FAC Annual Conference and Exposition in Orange County last week. The award is given annually to county commissioners from around the state who have shown exceptional leadership in partnering with FAC to advance the counties’ legislative agenda.
“Commissioner Williamson’s willingness to advocate for counties was not only essential to the success of FAC’s legislative efforts, but it was also of great service to the citizens of Santa Rosa County,” said FAC Executive Director Scott Shalley. “The commissioner’s advocacy was invaluable in helping ensure that local governments are provided the flexibility and tools they need to meet the needs of Florida’s citizens.”
“Santa Rosa County – and counties around the state – were the big winners following this legislation session. This award is the result of a team effort and I’m honored to be a part of that team,” said Williamson.

In addition to receiving the Presidential Advocacy Award, Williamson was selected for the Florida Counties Foundation board of directors, elected to the FAC board of directors representing Escambia, Santa Rosa and Okaloosa counties, and appointed by incoming FAC President Kathy Bryant to serve as vice chair of the Public Safety Policy Committee.
In his home county, the District Four commissioner was also recently selected to fill the position of vice chairman for the Santa Rosa County Board of County Commissioners. The seat became available following the resignation of former vice chairman, Jayer Williamson of District One. Commissioner Rob Williamson will oversee the committee roles previously held by Jayer Williamson. The chairmanship is traditionally rotated among the commissioners each year in November.
