Veda Stabler
Mrs. Veda Stabler born on October 11, 1935 to Arthur Lee and Lucille Simmons and passed away on June 1, 2016. She is survived by two sons, Wayne (Patty) Hawthorne and Ronnie (Sheri) Hawthorne; six grandchildren, Brian (Amy) Hawthorne, Heather (Chris) Phillips, Jeff (Tabatha) Hawthorne, Karyn (Boo) Weekly, Sommer (Josh) Vaughn, and Whitney Hawthorne; seven great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, W.L. Simmons, Ernestine Myers, Carolyn Houston, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Wayland Simmons; sister, Laura Hinnot and husbands, O’Neal Stabler and Henry Kelly. She was a member of Ebenezer Church and a devoted Christian woman. As a resident of The Terrace at Jay, she acquired many friends. Her greatest treasure was her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Her most wonderful gift was her unconditional love. She loved everyone and everyone loved her. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 11:00 am at Jay Funeral Home with Brother Bobby Carnley officiating. A visitation will be held on Friday, June 3, 2016 from 6-8 pm at Jay Funeral Home. Active pallbearers will be her grandsons. We wish to thank Dr. David Smith and the staff at Jay Hospital, Baptist Hospital of Pensacola and The Terrace for the loving care they gave to our mother.
