Baptist Health Care Celebrates Cancer Survivors
PENSACOLA, Fla. (May 25, 2016) ‐ Baptist Cancer Institute is hosting “Art of Survivorship” a local Cancer Survivors Day celebration on Sun., June 5, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., at the Pensacola Yacht Club, 1897 Cypress St. This event provides an opportunity for our local cancer survivors to connect with other survivors to celebrate milestones and show the world that life after a cancer diagnosis can be meaningful, productive and inspiring. The event will feature art therapy workshops by Florida State University Art Therapy Program, light refreshments, and a survivor’s recognition ceremony.
Everyone knows someone whose life has been touched by cancer. On Sun., June 5, thousands of people around the world will gather to observe the 29th annual National Cancer Survivors Day. Each year this day is designated to honor everyone who is living with a history of cancer ‐ including America’s nearly 14 million cancer survivors. “A ‘survivor’ is anyone living with a history of cancer ‐ from the moment of diagnosis through the remainder of life,” according to the National Cancer Survivors Day Foundation.
