Kersey Hired as New JHS Football Coach

Brad Marcilliat announced today that Jay High School had found its new football coach in Melvin Kersey. Kersey works at JHS and has over 20 years of football coaching experience. He has coached on varsity staffs at Navarre High School, WS Neal, Escambia Academy before he came to Jay, where he served as the defensive coordinator for several years. Melvin Kersey also is the head tennis coach at Jay.

“This is a lifelong dream for me to be the head football coach at Jay High School. Jay is a special community and Jay High School is a special place to me and I am thankful to have this opportunity, ” said Kersey as he addressed the players this morning. “I’m excited about getting out there and going to work.” Kersey graduated Jay in 1993. He played fullback and middle linebacker as a Royal.

Spring training begins Monday, April 25th.
