Kent Smith hired as new Patriot Coach

Its official… Kent Smith has been hired as the new head football coach at Pace High School. Smith, who replaced Elijah Bell, the long time football coach at Jay, will now replace Mickey Lindsey, the longtime Pace coach. Pace High School had the job posted for over two weeks and had several applicants apply, but in the end, Smith is heading back to Pace, now as the head man.

Smith coached at Pace for over 20 years and served as the defensive coordinator at Pace for several seasons before taking the head coaching job at Jay in 2011. In his five years at Jay, Smith led the Royals to a 20-29 overall  record.

Now Jay will have to find a new head coach to lead the Royals with spring training right around the corner. It starts April 25.
