Santa Rosa County Opens Little Free Library

Santa Rosa County Opens Little Free Library

Santa Rosa County will host a ribbon-cutting for the first Little Free Library to be installed in a county park on Monday, February 8 at 3:30 p.m. The ceremony will be followed by a dedication with S. S. Dixon Intermediate School Principal Linda Gooch and staff of the Santa Rosa County School Board. The library will be located at Benny Russell Park, 5417 West Spencer Field Road in Pace. Residents are encouraged to attend the ceremony and bring a book – or two – to donate.

“We are excited to offer a Little Free Library to the residents of Santa Rosa County,” said Commissioner Jayer Williamson. “Promoting literacy is a movement that should be carried throughout our whole community, not just our schools.”

A Little Free Library is a “take a book, return a book” free book exchange. The mission of the Little Free Library project is not only to bring books to every corner, but also to bring communities together through reading. The average Little Free Library cycles through as many as 100 books per month.
