Royal Pride Band Finishes Season

Congratulations to the Royal Pride Band on a successful completion to their Marching Band Season.  They finished their season Saturday at Choctawhatchee High School’s annual Emerald Coast Marching Classic with an Overall Superior Rating.  The Band also was awarded Best in Class 2A for Band, Percussion and Color Guard.  The Band which is under the direction of Ms Connie Wilkes and Assistant Band Director Rachel Belveal worked extremely hard all summer and through the fall perfecting their show “Oh What a Week” the selections played this year were, Happy Days, Monday Monday, Ruby Tuesday, Hump Day, Working for the Weekend, Saturday in the Park and Amazing Grace.  The band has marched this season under the direction of our Drum Major, Christopher Mills, who proudly finished Saturday tied for 3rd place overall out of 12 competing band with class sizes ranging from 2A – 5A.

 

The Royal Pride Band consists of 56 band members 7-12 grade. The band has received an Overall Superior Rating for the past 5 years with multiple caption awards.  The Senior members graduating this year are:  Olivia Britt (Band Captain), Nick Foltmann, Pamela Fornwalt, Zachary Gibbs, Conner Hendricks, Jared Hendricks, Taylor Lauria, Shila Routley (Auxiliary Captain), Chandler Sedlacek (Drum Line Captain), and Logan Wilson.

 

If you haven’t had to opportunity to see all the hard work by this great group of students, you still have a chance! The band will perform their show halftime this Friday at the football game at Rocky Bayou in Destin or the final home game for the Royals on November 7th.  Please take a minute to congratulate the band on a great job!
