North Santa Rosa

Week 6 Insider

Last week wasn’t a great week for any of our north Santa Rosa football teams with all three losing. Pace(2-3) lost to Pine Forest 45-28, Jay(0-5) lost to Graceville 32-13, and Milton(4-1) gave up a two possession lead in the fourth quarter and lost a close one to Pine Forest, 30-23.

As we enter into the 2nd half of the season, district play is going to start heating up and the playoff picture will start to form week by week. This week, there are some big time rivalries and old foes that promise to provide some entertaining football.

Gulf Breeze(1-4) @ Milton (4-1)-7:30 pm kickoff

The Milton Panthers will be glad to be back at home this week as they host the Gulf Breeze Dolphins. Last week, Milton built up a two possession lead at Pine Forest, only to lose it in the fourth quarter. Look for Milton to be successful both on the ground and in the air against Gulf Breeze this week. Last week, the Dolphins lost to West Florida High School, 35-24. Their only win was over 1A Northview earlier in the year.

Gulf Breeze and Milton did not play last year.

Jay (0-5) @ Baker(3-2) -7:00pm kickoff

How sweet would it be for the Royals to sneak up on the Gators to get their first win of the season? A district win at that? It could happen. At the beginning of the year, the Royals appeared to be the better team on the field in the varsity portion of the kickoff classic. They moved the ball at will and held the Baker offense at bay. The Royals are in desperate need for a win and they couldn’t think of a better game to do it in than in “The War on Highway 4.” It won’t be easy, however. Baker has improved every week and appears to be a solid team. Last week, Baker beat Rocky Bayou 35-10.

Last year Baker beat Jay by a score of 42-14.

Pace(2-3) @ Navarre (5-0)-7:30pm kickoff

Pace will have its hands full this week with the state ranked Navarre Raiders. Navarre has beat every team so far on their schedule by 20 plus points, with the exception of Choctaw. Last week, Navarre obliterated winless Fort Walton Beach by a score of 55-14. Pace will play the raiders tough, as they have just about every opponent this year that they’ve faced, but Navarre looks to be very talented and very deep this year.

Last year Navarre beat Pace at Pace 49-21.
