Week 3 Review and Preview of Week 4 (PANTHERS 3-0/PACE 1-2/JAY 0-3)

If you were at the Pace(1-2) or Jay(0-3) games this Friday night as a Patriot or Royal fan, you had to feel good through the beginning of the game. Pace’s defense forced a turnover on the opening drive and led to a Patriot touchdown early on over Pine Forest. Jay scored on a 90 yard touchdown run on their opening drive to take the early lead over Wewa. Then Jay scored on another long touchdown scamper by Victor Mishoe and actually took a 14-0 lead. Then, things changed for both teams as Pine Forest scored 33 unanswered points on the Patriots and Wewa scored 41 unanswered on the Royals.

Milton (3-0) had the best night as they completely dominated a winless Fort Walton Beach (0-3) squad. This marked the first game of the year for the Panthers that didn’t come down to the last possession.

Jay(0-3) @ West Gadsden (0-3) 6:30pm Kickoff

Jay is on the road again for the first time since they traveled to Flomaton. They are still searching for their first win of the season and hope to find one in Greensboro this Friday night. Last week, West Gadsden lost to Baker 45-21. The West Gadsden Panthers have been outscored this season so far 109-35 in their three losses. The Royals need to get healthy, however, as the Panthers are an athletic bunch, scoring two defensive touchdowns last week against Baker.

The two teams did not play last season.

Washington(0-3) @ Pace (1-2) 7:30pm Kickoff

Pace is going to try and get things going in the right direction this week at home as they host Washington this Friday night. Pace is on a two game slid and they look to get their offense going this Friday night. They have been outscored in the last two weeks by a combined score of 73-17. Pace should have a much easier go at it this week against Washington as they appear to have  a struggling defense and an offense that has only scored 17 points all year. Washington lost to Pensacola High last week 40-3.

Last year, Pace recorded their first win of the season after starting 0-4 when they beat Washington 35-18.

Milton (3-0) @ Catholic (1-2) 7:30pm Kickoff

Milton travels again this week, this time to Escambia County as they face Catholic. This should be Milton’s toughest test of the season, so far, although Catholic is down for their standards. Catholic lost to Escambia High School last week, while Milton beat up on Fort Walton by land and air. To be successful against the Crusaders this week, look for the Panthers to try and keep more of a balanced attack, while still leaning a little more on the run. How will the Panthers’ defense respond this week? Should be interesting.

Last year, Catholic beat Milton 35-26.

Hope everyone has a good week!
