North Santa Rosa

What we learned from Week 2 and Inside look into Week 3!

Hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend. Schools have a short week this week, although all area football teams did get a practice in on the holiday. Should learn a lot about the character of some of our teams this week. Pace is coming off a lopsided loss by the way of Pensacola High and Jay is banged up from their battle with the # 1 ranked 1A team in Mississippi last week losing 12-0 against Resurrection Catholic.

Milton @ Fort Walton Beach- Kickoff 7:00pm

We know this about the 2015 Milton Panthers (2-0)…they know how to keep things interesting and can win the close games. They beat Champagnat Catholic out of Miami last week 27-20. That marked the third game in a row (including the jamboree against W.S. Neal) where the Panthers have won by one possession. This week, the Panthers travel for the first time this season as they make the trip to Fort Walton Beach.

Last year, the Panthers beat Fort Walton Beach, 48-21.

Pace @ Pine Forest-Kickoff 7:30pm

Pace(1-1) did not have a good night Friday when they traveled to Pensacola High. The offense struggled as they were only able to muster 10 points against a very athletic Tiger team. This week is a new week, however, as the Patriots look to turn the page as they travel again to Pensacola, this time to face Pine Forest (1-1). Pine Forest has been a little up and down so far in this early2015 season.  They beat Pensacola High in the first week of the season, but lost to Choctaw last week. Pace beat Choctaw in week 1. So……….who knows what will happen this week? Anybody’s guess.

Last year, Pace beat Pine Forest 28-6.

Wewa @ Jay-Kickoff 7:00pm

Jay(0-2) lost last week to Resurrection Catholic(3-0), 12-0. Both defenses played extremely well, but again, turnovers for Jay seemed to seal their fate. Resurrection Catholic’s first touchdown came as a direct result of a turnover on the very first play of the game. Both defenses played a stingy game, giving up very few big yardage plays (only 3 plays resulted in over 20 yards the entire game for both sides combined). The injury bug may have hit the Royals as well. This week, the Royals could be without a couple of their starters, so others will be expected to step up and fill their shoes, possibly. Last week, Wewa (0-2) lost to Freeport 18-12.

Wewa and Jay did not play last year.

Have a great week everybody and hope to see you Friday!
