Inside look into Week 2
Good slate of interesting games this week. With the exception of Pace, our other north Santa Rosa teams play opponents neither school has ever faced. Milton will be hosting a school from Miami in Champagnat and Jay will be hosting a school from Pascagoula, MS in Resurrection Catholic. Pace faces Pensacola High.
Resurrection Catholic @ Jay- Friday-Kickoff, 7:00pm.
@ Jay- Jay (0-1) is coming off a pretty big loss to rival Flomaton (2-0) where the Royals got beat 55-26. However, the score doesn’t really tell how close this game could have been. The Royals’ offense had no trouble moving the ball, just couldn’t hold on to it. Flomaton capitalized on all four turnovers (one of which was a 99 yard fumble recovery for a touchdown), plus returned a kickoff for a touchdown. The game had zero punts on either side. If the Royals can fix this part of their game, they can be tough to beat. Resurrection Catholic (2-0) is a private school and Jay is their only opponent outside the state of Mississippi. The two schools have never played.
Champagnat @ Milton-Friday-Kickoff, 6:00pm.
@ Milton-Milton (1-0) won an overtime thriller against Washington High School last week, 20-14. They won the game on the ground and look for them to continue to try and shorten games all year long with their rushing attack. Their opponent this week is Champagnat Catholic out of Miami. Like Jay, Milton is playing a private school that they have never faced before. Last week, Champagnat lost to Westminster Christian 75-12.
Pace @ Pensacola High School-Friday-Kickoff, 7:00pm
@Pensacola High-Pace (1-0) beat Fort Walton Beach High School 49-28 last week. Last week, Pace appeared to have the game out of reach, but Fort Walton made a comeback to tie the game up 28 all in the 3rd quarter, before Pace eventually pulled away. This week, the Patriots travel to Pensacola High School. Last year, the Patriots lost to PHS 35-10. Last week, Pensacola lost to Pine Forest 41-30.
