Inside look at week 1
Well, last Friday night gave everyone a taste of a little football. If you didn’t get rained on, at least a little, consider yourself lucky. Now we start the first week of the season. This week, the games count for real. By Friday night, as they say, “the hay better be in the barn” because these games matter. And we start with a slew of good games right out of the gate.
First, let’s start with the Panthers. Milton is coming off a 4-6 record from last season. They beat WS Neal last week in their jamboree, 14-6. They will be hosting Washington High School. Last year, Washington beat Milton, 21-14.

Second, let’s travel down the road to what’s happening at Pace. Pace is coming off a 5-5 2014 campaign where they got off to a real rocky start before salvaging their season and finishing with a .500 record. Last week the Patriots defeated Choctaw in their jamboree. This week, they turn their attention to the Vikings of Fort Walton Beach. Last year, Pace won 42-21 and look to try and duplicate that again this year.

And finally, we turn our attention to a big-time out of state rivalry with Flomaton and Jay. This game needs no buildup for the fans, players, coaches, and alumni involved, but we’ll try anyway. Jay is coming off its 3rd winning season in a row. They finished last season 5-4. Last week, Jay came up short in the annual Jay/Baker Kickoff Classic, 13-6. Flomaton (1-0) beat up on Chickasaw in the first week of the Alabama high school season. The Royals will have a chip on their shoulder as Flomaton bested them last year, 42-20.

Have a great week everybody and see you Friday
